The DAC meeting for proposed draft Paras (PDP) of financial year 2018-19 was held in PDMA head office karachi at 11am and which was chaired by Secretary Rehabilitation Department Mr. Riaz Soomro.
Establishment Of Women Friendly Space At District Hostpital, Mithi-Tharparkar, Sindh -28 November 2019
The meeting was held with PDMA Sindh, NDMA officials, DG Health Services Govt. of Sindh, DHO , MS Mitti, UNFPA Sindh Office, DG Social Welfare and Chairperson Commission to discuss the establishment of women friendly space at District Hostpital, Mithi-Tharparkar, Sindh.
National Resilience Day 2019 -08 October 2019
Provincial Disaster Management authority Sindh held an event at NED University Auditorium to observe National Resilience Day. This day is being observed to commemorate the victims of 2005 earthquake. Vice Chancellor NED University Dr: Sarosh Lodhi and Secretary Rehabilitation Department Riaz Soomro graced the event as guests of honor.A large number of students from NED University, officials of PDMA Sindh and representatives of various organizations i.e. HANDS, PREPARED, Aga Khan Agency for Habitat, Pakistan Red Crescent and INSPIRE Pakistan.Vice Chancellor NED University, Dr: Sarosh while addressing the gathering highlighted the importance of awareness for saving human lives from disasters and educating the people for rampant catastrophes like heatwaves, droughts and floods. Secretary Rehabilitation Department in his address emphasized on the importance of resilience measures towards safety of public and countering disasters. DG PDMA Sindh Syed Salman Shah in a message said that 8th of October reminds us of those who lost their lives in the deadly earthquake of 2005 and also helps to stand united in helping each other in case of any disasters.Secretary Rehabilitation Department and Director (Operations) PDMA Sindh also lead a rally by participants of the event to pay tribute to the victims of 8th October, 2005 earthquake.
Minister for Rehabilitation Department, Faraz Dero visits PDMA Sindh -04 September 2019
Minister for Rehabilitation Department, Faraz Dero visited PDMA Sindh Headquarters today and held meetings with PDMA Sindh and Sindh Resilience Project (PDMA Component) staff.Upon arrival, the Minister was received by DG PDMA Sindh/Project Director SRP (PDMA Component) Syed Salman Shah who later briefed the Minister in detail about the working capacity and functionalities of PDMA Sindh. Syed Salman Shah also briefed the Minister on various activities and future road map of Sindh Resilience Project (PDMA Component). Minister Faraz Dero while talking to the staff, expressed his satisfaction over the performance of both institutions and directed to further enhance the capabilities of PDMA Sindh to serve the masses.
Minister Rehabilitation Department, visits PDMA Sindh -07 August 2019
Minister Rehabilitation Department Faraz Dero after assuming the charge of Ministry, immediately visited PDMA Sindh headquarters in wake of forecasted rain/flood alerts issued by NDMA and other concerned authorities.Minister Rehabilitation Department chaired an important meeting at PDMA Sindh Headquarters which was attended by Secretary Rehabilitation Department, DG PDMA Sindh, representatives of District Administration Karachi & Local Government institutions including Karachi Water Board and other concerned officers.During meeting, DG PDMA Sindh briefed the Minister about ongoing and upcoming projects of PDMA Sindh and precautionary measures being taken in countering the expected floods and urban flooding. A presentation on emergency preparedness and resilience measures was also given to the Minister. Minister Rehabilitation Department directed all concerned to stay alert during Monsoon season. He further directed Chairman DDMAs to deploy de-watering pumps at vulnerable locations prior to rainfall while PDMA shall be available for all out support to DDMAs.
Chairman NDMA visit to PDMA Sindh -28 June 2019
Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lieutenant General Muhammad Afzal,HI(M), visited PDMA Sindh headquarters on 28-06-2019. Upon arrival, the Chairman was received by Secretary Rehabilitation Department Riaz Hussain Soomro and DG PDMA Sindh Syed Salman Shah. During visit, Chairman NDMA was briefed on the working capacity of PDMA Sindh and a presentation was given on various aspects including present and future undertakings of PDMA Sindh, Monsoon preparations, briefing on Multi Hazard Vulnerability Risk Assessment (MHVRA), challenges being faced by PDMA Sindh and recommendations for improving the working capacity and coordination between PDMA Sindh and NDMA. While talking to media after the meeting, Chairman NDMA said that he had a detailed discussion with PDMA Sindh on urban flooding and expected Monsoon downpours and he further assured full cooperation of NDMA to PDMA Sindh for any help if and when required.
